Descripción general

The presentation explores how Serious Games can be used to teach and certify skills through the Triadic Certification Method (TCM), which integrates the assessment of skills into the game itself. Using a case study in driving training, the method demonstrates that monitoring and validating learning practically and engagingly is possible, making the game an effective tool for developing professional competencies.

Profesorado

Dr. Ricardo Baptista, ***researcher, University of Porto

A global perspective marks Ricardo Baptista's academic journey. He earned his PhD in Digital Media - Creation of Audiovisuals and Interactive Content from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto in 2017, following a master's degree in Multimedia Technology from the same institution. His research career has taken him across borders, with roles as a research fellow in several national and European projects in game-based learning, multimedia, and skills training. His international experience was further enriched during his fellowship at IC2 and Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin, Texas, USA in 2015. 

Ricardo Baptista's academic journey is not only marked by his teaching roles but also by his leadership positions. He is a coordinating professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Maia-Porto, leading the way in digital game development and web technologies. His leadership is further evident in his role as an Invited Assistant Professor at various public universities, such as the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto and Open University, where he guides students in web development, programming, databases, and geographic information systems. His academic leadership was also evident during his tenure as the coordinator of the Arts and Multimedia Department at ISCE Douro from 2022 to 2023.

He is an affiliate/integrated researcher at the INESC TEC/ Open Universidad research laboratory in the Humanise Center in Computer Graphics and Virtual Environments.

His experience includes professional and business training in information and communication technologies and programming. He has also worked in project management/requirements analysis in software development and computer consultancy as the founder and partner of a software development company.

Asistencia presencial o a través de Collaborate (con informe de conexión) y superar la prueba de preguntas sobre la presentación disponible en el correspondiente curso de Aula Virtual.
